I. Call to order: Chairman Waisbrot called the meeting to order at 9:07 am.
II. Approval of September 14, 2013 meeting minutes: Motion to approve by Dave Zielinski, second by Milt Klingsporn Motion carried.
III. Treasurer’s Report: Dave Zielinski provided a detailed financial report to the Commission for fiscal year first quarter as of November 9, 2013. The report showed a beginning balance of $16,673.53 and an ending balance of $16,235.60. The Treasurer’s report was reviewed and accepted by the Commissioners.
IV. Committee Reports:
A. Fish Stocking and Habitat/Alma Lake Crib Brushing Project: Chairman Waisbrot reported that the fish stocking information is provided in the news report and on the Website. The Alma Lake Brushing and completed and another crib was found on Moon Lake in need of Brushing and was completed along with the Alma Lake Project. The crib brushing work should last between five and seven years.
B. Water Quality/Level: No report for this meeting, a report will be provided at the next meeting. A water level reading will be taken later in October.
C. Web Site: Milt Klingsporn will renew the domain name for five years shortly at an approximate cost of $17.99 per year. The five year term will reduce possible errors and protect the name.
D. Town of St. Germain/Vilas County Committee Updates: Bill Bates provided a comparison of Lake District vs. Lake Association and their related funding. Bill received a report from the head of the Lakes Committee that Found Lake was the recipient of a grant to monitor the boat landings for invasive species. Bill provided a broad overview of the highway 70 traffic improvements that will take place over the next two to three years in St. Germain.
V. Old Business:
A. Boat Landing Improvements: Chairman Waisbrot reported that the boat landing appears to be holding up at this time, however an inspection and evaluation will be needed in spring 2014.
B. Crib Brushing – Alma Lake: Chairman Waisbrot reported that the crib brushing is completed for both Moon and Alma Lakes.
VI. New Business:
A. Recommendation of no wake signage on the lakes: Moon Beach Camp had a work week and cleared the brush from the sign on one side of the Lake. The sign from Moon Lake to Alma is attached to a tree and will need to be addressed. At that time it may be appropriate to add signage as you approach Moon Lake from Alma Lake.
B. Program for June 2014 Annual Meeting: Chairman Waisbrot has contacted Patrick Goggins from UWEX. Mr. Goggins agreed to be the informational/educational speaker.
C. Set future Commission Meeting Dates: The annual meeting will be June 14, 2014. It was discussed to have the meeting start at 12:00.
The future meeting dates are: April 12 at 9:00 and May 17. These dates are tentative and may change.
The Lakes Convention will be April 24, 25, and 26, 2013 in Stevens Point. Those interested in attending should contact Dave Zielinski for tax exempt certificates. For more information go to the Wisconsin Lakes Convention at: uwsp.edu/unr/uwexlakes
VII. Adjourn: A motion to adjourn was made by Dave Zielinski; a second was made by Milt Klingsporn. The motion carried the meeting was adjourned at 11:10 am.
